Do I really need life insurance?

Life insurance is one of the hardest discussions to have with a loved one but one of the most important. Unfortunately, not many things in life are certain but death is one of them.  It is something to have in place for your beneficiaries even if you just have enough coverage for your final expenses.

What age should I buy life insurance?

Life insurance is better to get when you are young and healthy.  It is inevitable that you will get older and your health will deteriorate.  Unfortunately, you will never know if or when your health will start to decline.  It is smart to get some coverage in place when you are younger and always reevaluate your life coverage at major life events.

What are major life events?

Major life events are dramatic changes in your life.  Some examples are below:

  • Purchasing a home or condo
  • Getting married or divorced
  • Changing jobs
  • Having children or grandchildren
  • Refinancing a home or condo
What type of policy should I have?

Everyone has a different need for life insurance because everyone’s situation is different.  It is best to talk to your agent to do a consultative review of your life insurnace needs and see what policy protects you and your loved ones.

I have a policy at work, isn’t that enough?

Many life insurance policies at employers are group policies and do not offer adequate insurance coverage.  If you get let go or quit the price will more than likely increase drastically for the same coverage.  Having life insurance though work is a plus but many individuals need additional coverage to supplement their actual needs.
